On installation, I selected not to share any files. I am not on a network. I then de-selected wmpnscfg.exe in sys config. I disabled the two (2) BHO it installed (to start automatically). However, when I start the media player...it puts wmpnscfg.exe back into sys config. .....
I have made it clear that I do not want this #%@&^ thing running all the time in the background. Nothing I have tried will stop it. Is there any way (short of uninstalling 11 and using 10) to eliminate this intrusive program?

My fault...I forgot to mention that has been disabled as well.
This program will not show up, once you have removed it from msconfig...until the next time you start the media player...then it's a automatic start-up. Sweet huh...won't call home unless you use me.

Another thing to try is the box you used for disabling WMPNSCFG.EXE, go to the Recovery tab and reset all three boxes to Take no action and click Apply/Ok and see if that works.

Try Startup Cop Pro from PC Magazine - http:\\www.pcmag.com

Sorry, I don't remember weather it is freeware or shareware, but it definitly works to disable programs at startup.

This will allow you to disable the program at startup, but I don't know if it wil come back when you start the media player.

Regards,

Bill R.
