I have been playing around with Adobe Premiere and Encore and find it a bit too much for me, is there anything a little more user friendly? Thanks!

Have you tried Microsoft Movie maker. It is free, does all the basic editing tasks and is very user friendly.

Movie maker for XP

Movie Maker for Vista and Windows 7
